Chicago August 2018

This past weekend we did our summer Chicago gem show, the 2nd of 3 Chicago gem shows throughout the year. The first is in May, the second in August, and the last one is in December. This time, the show was relocated away from the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont and was instead held at the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center in Schaumburg. Considering the new location, we were honestly a little bit nervous at to how things would go. Even though Schaumburg is only about 20 minutes away from Rosemont, it's almost like being in a different market because how big the Chicago area is. Another variable that played into it is the fact that Rosemont is more accessible to most people because of a CTA train stop that stops in a central location. Schaumburg offers no direct public transportation. Again, given those circumstances we had some concerns about how our attendance would be affected! 

Friday began with a smaller crowd, and only got somewhat busy at certain points during the day. Saturday was a much better improvement, with bigger and more consistent foot traffic. Sunday was similar, although less so than Saturday. Altogether, the weekend turned out to be a good one!  We will be returning back to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont for the next Chicago gem show, which will be in December. Be sure to come visit us then!
